A Love the World Can See

Morning Encouragement
Jesus did not say the world would recognize His followers by their church attendance, knowledge, accomplishments, or religious traditions.
He said people would recognize His disciples by their love for one another.
This love must be visible in the way we speak, serve, forgive, encourage, and care for people across generations.
Going Deeper: The Word "Love"
The Greek word agapē (ἀγάπη), used in John 13:35, refers to love.
In the New Testament, its meaning is shaped especially by God's self-giving love revealed through Jesus Christ.
This love is more than affection. In Jesus' teaching, it involves practical, sacrificial concern for the good of others.
What His Disciples Would Have Understood
Jesus gave this command shortly after washing His disciples' feet.
Foot washing was normally associated with humble service, often performed by someone of lower social standing.
Yet Jesus, their Lord and Teacher, took the position of a servant.
When He commanded them to love one another as He had loved them, the disciples had just witnessed a powerful demonstration of that love.
They would soon see its fullest expression through His sacrificial death on the cross.
Breakfast for the Soul: Someone should be able to experience the love of Jesus through the way you treat them today. Look for an opportunity to demonstrate that love through a simple act of kindness.
Morning Prayer
Lord Jesus, teach us to love as You have loved us. Remove division, pride, and selfishness from our hearts. Help our families and churches become places where people experience Your grace and truth. May our love point others toward You. Amen.
Scripture | John 13:34–35 (KJV)
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
