Lunch & Learn: Crucifying the Flesh

Crucifying the Flesh
š Galatians 5:24āAnd they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.ā
Word: Sarx (ĻάĻξ)Ā ā flesh; in this context, fallen human nature oriented away from God.
Thought:Ā For Paul, āfleshā isn't simply the physical body. It describes human life operating independently of God's Spirit. The Christian life therefore involves more than managing bad habits. We continually put to death desires that compete with Christ's rule.
Go Deeper:Ā Read Romans 6:6ā14, Romans 8:5ā13 and Colossians 3:1ā10. Look for the repeated language of death and new life.
Consider:Ā What am I trying to manage that Scripture tells me to put to death?
Challenge:Ā Identify one sinful pattern and remove something that has been feeding it.
